Recreating Childhood Photos | Photography Trend

It seems to be the latest photo trend on the web…families recreating photos taken from their childhood as adults.

What does this mean exactly?

Well, families (sometimes even groups of friends) do their best to mimic original images taken from their past; imitating facial expressions and hairstyles, dressing in the same or similar outfits, striking the same poses and even recreating the background or other accessories in the original photograph.

Some siblings have done this as a gift to their parents, others recreate these poses from their past just for fun. I find myself thinking that some of these images are creepy, while others show how much family members have grown over the amount of time, and some are just plain funny.

Some of the baby photos I have seen recreated are by far the most hilarious! They make great additions to the awkward family photo site you may have seen.

Using modern technology like editing software helps the new photographs look “old”.

Here are some that I have found over the past year.  Keep in mind, these photos are not taken by Honeybee Photography.

If you are interested in setting up a session to recreate your own childhood photos, please contact us!

2013 Twin Cities Kidney Walk | Philanthropy Photography

As a photographer, I like to Do Some Good with my camera!

If you remember from my blog in July (Doing Good With My Camera) I talk a lot about how I have helped out the community by offering my photography services to organizations when they need help.  This year is no different. Knowing how lucky I am to have everything that I have, donating my talent is so rewarding. It feels great knowing that I have made a difference for an organization or individual, even if it is capturing a moment in time with one click.

For the 2nd year in a row, I was involved with the National Kidney Foundation and offered my photography skills to help document the 2013 Twin Cities Kidney Walk presented by Optum and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, which was held at the Thompson Routers campus.

Minnesota's largest Cupid Shuffle took place at this year's walk.

Our walk team, Jakes Jaunt, raised over $3,000 this year.

This annual walk raises funds to support free kidney health screenings, organ donation initiatives, patient advocacy, research, and more right here in our community. We have a friend who underwent a kidney transplant over a year ago, which is how we got involved with the organization in the first place. (See Jake's story here)

Over 3,500 Twin Cities participants
raised over $262,000 for the Kidney Foundation,
which is a wonderful accomplishment.

To show your support, please "like" the National Kidney Foundation Facebook page! You will find an album with some of the photos I took at the event.

Here are some photos from the event. Until next year!

At the bottom of this post, you will find a list of the teams, sponsors and companies who were showcased at the exhibit.
